Summary

Um。 The theory is there。 The execution, however? Im not so sure。 Not fully convinced I wanna read the next book, though I am curious。 I wasn’t fully hooked until the last few chapters。

This book took a lot for me to get into。 Like multiple attempts, and countless library late fees。 Finally I got my hands on the audiobook, and Reader, I could not stop listening to it。I find the concept very interesting and the mystery kept my attention。 I like how it’s set in Italy, but I wished the author expanded on that more。 It feels like she used the Italian setting to use Italian words and foods, but she was sparse with description。 The characters really got me through this story, but I h This book took a lot for me to get into。 Like multiple attempts, and countless library late fees。 Finally I got my hands on the audiobook, and Reader, I could not stop listening to it。I find the concept very interesting and the mystery kept my attention。 I like how it’s set in Italy, but I wished the author expanded on that more。 It feels like she used the Italian setting to use Italian words and foods, but she was sparse with description。 The characters really got me through this story, but I have to say that the audiobook narrator was not my style。 I felt that she played it very melodramatic and the fake accents could get tiresome。 To me, consuming this book in audiobook form hindered my enjoying it fully。That being said, I have a hard copy of the second book, so I’m in it for the long haul。TW/CW death of a loved one, major character death, Catholic Church, demons and witches, violence against women, depictions of blood and gore; 14+Medium high re-readability 。。。more

Czuję lekki niedosyt a zarazem jest ciekawa kontynuacji。 Trochę się dłużyło ale końcówka nadrobiła to。 Relacja miedzy głównymi bohaterami dobrze wykreowana liczę, że drugi tom będzie lepszy i da mi to wszystko czego brakowało w pierwszym

While reading Kingdom of the Wicked I felt like their was something missing but it kept me interested enough。 It didn’t really get exciting until the later parts of the book! After that ending though, I will be impatiently waiting for book #2 to arrive 😪

Looking forward to the rest of the series

You know how some books are super hyped up in the literary world, then you're all excited when you finally get a chance to read them but the book only ends up being so-so at best? That's not at all the case with this novel。We start with MURDER (as many good books do), and it only gets better from there。 Maniscalco pens a tale of trust and betrayal, secrets and half-truths, lies of omission and those we tell ourselves in order to protect ourselves from truths too cutting to accept。The characters You know how some books are super hyped up in the literary world, then you're all excited when you finally get a chance to read them but the book only ends up being so-so at best? Well it was good in the last pages but the 50% of the book is sooooo slow burn and does not enhance plotly。

i don’t really know how i feel about this book。 i really liked the plot but it also felt like something was lacking? i found emilia to be insanely frustrating and dumb at times and i still haven’t formed an opinion on wrath (like he’s hot but also so confusing😭) - and i understand that there’s a sequel but i was also left feeling empty with a lack of answers。 ALSO WHAT WAS WITH NONNA GATEKEEPING INFORMATION CONSTANTLY?? i also thought Vittoria’s story and character wasn’t good enough - i had no i don’t really know how i feel about this book。 i really liked the plot but it also felt like something was lacking? i found emilia to be insanely frustrating and dumb at times and i still haven’t formed an opinion on wrath (like he’s hot but also so confusing😭) - and i understand that there’s a sequel but i was also left feeling empty with a lack of answers。 ALSO WHAT WAS WITH NONNA GATEKEEPING INFORMATION CONSTANTLY?? i also thought Vittoria’s story and character wasn’t good enough - i had no concept of who she was or any emotional attachment to her which made it difficult to connect to Emilia and her goal。 all that being said, i did enjoy this book enough to buy the sequel。 with all the potential in this book i’m hoping the next book will be better (particularly now that emilia is more in tune w her powers) 。。。more

Really enjoyed this one。 Mystery and magic 。。。 can be hit or miss, but this story grabbed me and drew me in from the start。 Lots of laughs; really appreciated the author's sense of humor and wit。 Was very excited to move on to book 2 and see how everything played out。 Really enjoyed this one。 Mystery and magic 。。。 can be hit or miss, but this story grabbed me and drew me in from the start。 Lots of laughs; really appreciated the author's sense of humor and wit。 Was very excited to move on to book 2 and see how everything played out。 。。。more

AAARRRGH!!!! What a frustrating book! First of all, the writing is beautiful。 Maniscalco's descriptions are magic。 However, NOTHING HAPPENED!! Yes, there was a murder, well。。。several, and yes, the killer was found, and yes, there's action and dodging demons as well as some princes of Hell, but there were no true answers。 Also, Emilia is such a stubborn, wishy-washy, annoying twit who seems to grow a backbone but instead is just powered by her obstinance。 She doesn't learn anything from her month AAARRRGH!!!! I was super interested in this book in the beginning, the premise was amazing!! But then once I got past the half way mark I started losing interest and I literally had no idea what was going on anymore, maybe I just wasn’t digesting everything fully I don’t know…

i’d give it maybe 3。5 stars? really not the most spectacular thing i’ve ever read but enjoyable enough to make it through the entire book。 the writing was terrible in my opinion and emilia just annoyed me half the time😭😭 i get where she was going with writing her character tho as she did have her badass moments, i just don’t think she had all that much depth to her character。 i do however love wrath obviously and the tension between them was probably the only good thing about the book。 obviously i’d give it maybe 3。5 stars? really not the most spectacular thing i’ve ever read but enjoyable enough to make it through the entire book。 the writing was terrible in my opinion and emilia just annoyed me half the time😭😭 i get where she was going with writing her character tho as she did have her badass moments, i just don’t think she had all that much depth to her character。 i do however love wrath obviously and the tension between them was probably the only good thing about the book。 obviously i ate up the enemies to lovers, and the way he calls her ‘witch’<3 i need the 2nd book rn just to see what happens with them。 cos that ending? i am confused i feel like it was so abrupt i didn’t understand anything that went on。 why has she joined house pride pls? apparently the next one is better so i’ll still read it but this was meh。 。。。more
